St. Ann’s will hold a Virtus training at 4 pm on Sunday, March 12, in the Social Hall so all those who still need to complete their training can do so in a group setting. The Diocese requires all staff and volunteers (ages 18 and over) who work with or around children or vulnerable adults (directly or indirectly) to be certified through the Virtus program in order to provide a safe environment. Volunteers include but are not limited to: adult altar servers, lectors, cantors, religious education teachers, all adult volunteers affiliated with youth group activities, Bible school, money collectors, ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, funeral luncheons, or any dinners or events in the church. Therefore, as directed by the Diocese, until a person’s Virtus training is completed, he/she cannot volunteer in any capacity at St. Ann’s. The Diocese will begin auditing churches this month which could lead to complex problems if training is not up-to-date. Those who wish to attend are asked to leave a message for Anita Ballard at 304-592-1801, for planning purposes. Those who want to complete the training on their own, can go to www.Virtusonline.org to create a login and password at the left side of the website. However, it must be completed by Friday, March 24.
